Virtual Table Reading with Tipping Point Theatre: Love Letters

Thursday, February 117:00—8:15 PMONLINE EVENTNorthville District Library212 West Cady St, Northville, MI, 48167

Join us virtually as the Tipping Point Theatre presents Love Letters, the script that inspired the play Hate Mail.

About Love Letters
A unique and imaginative theatre piece which, in the words of the author, “needs no theatre, no lengthy rehearsal, no special set, no memorization of lines, and no commitment from its two actors beyond the night of performance.” The piece is comprised of letters exchanged over a lifetime between two people who grew up together, went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences. As the actors read the letters aloud, what is created is an evocative, touching, frequently funny but always telling pair of character studies in which what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is actually written down.

In Relation to Hate Mail
Hate Mail started out as an experimental parody of A. R. Gurney's Love Letters. Kira Obolensky and Bill Corbett corresponded to one another through individual letters they wrote as the characters, Dahlia and Preston. It soon morphed into its own stand alone piece, leaving its connection to Love Letters being closer to an inspiration of style more than anything else.

Love Letters does follow two people, but their time shared in the play starts from an early age, allowing us to see their relationship bend and shift as they grow. Whether you saw a performance of Hate Mail or not, we hope you will join us for this live table read over Zoom.

Tipping Point Theatre, a professional non-profit theatre in Downtown Northville, produces six main-stage productions each season as well as the Sandbox Short Play Festival.
